Currie East is the original  18-hole layout designed and constructed by Mr. Gilbert Currie, the man for whom Currie Municipal Golf Course is named. Mr. Currie’s vision was to provide a reasonably priced, beautifully designed course for all citizens to enjoy.  It is a traditional course that underwent a redesign on holes 1, 5, 8, 9, 13, 14, 16, and 18 in the mid-1990s by Michigan golf architect Jerry Matthews of Natural Course Design. The layout and conditions of Currie East are generally representative of comparable courses in the region with three tee boxes and an average course and slope rating, which can accommodate all skill levels..
